Reading this report
What does "Medium and Large 1" mean?
USDA feeder grades describe frame size and muscle thickness, not quality of
the individual animal. "Medium and Large" is the frame score; the number is
muscle (1 = heaviest muscled). "Medium and Large 1–2" pens mix both muscle
scores — common across the Southeast.
What is $/cwt?
Dollars per hundredweight — per 100 lb of animal. A 500-lb calf at
$450/cwt brings 5 × $450 = $2,250. Lighter cattle usually bring more per
cwt but less per head.
Why are some prices per head?
Bred cows, cow-calf pairs, and some replacement classes sell by the
head, not by weight. We show those exactly as USDA reports them — a
$/head figure is never converted into $/cwt on this site.

Special note; Smaller sale because of much needed rain in the area Compared to last week; Steer calves 300-350 lbs were 13.00 higher and 350-450 lbs sold 5.00 higher while 450-550 lbs were 13.00 higherand 550-600 lbs sold sharply higher. Feeder steers had insufficient numbers today to compare. Heifer calves 300-350 lbs sold 15.00 higher and 350-450 lbs were steady to 3.00 higher while 450-500 lbs sold sharply lower and 500-600 lbs were steady. Feeder heifers had insufficient numbers today to compare. Trade was moderate to stronger on smaller numbers with very good demand. Slaughter cows were 2.00-5.00 higher instances 9.00 higher and slaughter bulls sold 2.00-7.00 higher. Market was moderate with excellent buyer attendance.
