Reading this report
What does "Medium and Large 1" mean?
USDA feeder grades describe frame size and muscle thickness, not quality of
the individual animal. "Medium and Large" is the frame score; the number is
muscle (1 = heaviest muscled). "Medium and Large 1–2" pens mix both muscle
scores — common across the Southeast.
What is $/cwt?
Dollars per hundredweight — per 100 lb of animal. A 500-lb calf at
$450/cwt brings 5 × $450 = $2,250. Lighter cattle usually bring more per
cwt but less per head.
Why are some prices per head?
Bred cows, cow-calf pairs, and some replacement classes sell by the
head, not by weight. We show those exactly as USDA reports them — a
$/head figure is never converted into $/cwt on this site.

federal reporters at the sale. We publish each report in full and link the

Compared to last weeks sale; Steer calves 300-350 lbs were 3.00 lower and 350-400 lbs sold 2.00 higher while 400-500 lbs were 11.00-18.00 higher with 500-550 lbs being 3.00 lower and 550-600 lbs selling 8.00 higher. Feeder steers 600-650 lbs were 6.00 lower and 650-750lbs sold 4.00-5.00 higher. Heifer calves 300-350 lbs were 5.00 lower while 350-400 lbs sold 20.00 higher and 400-550 lbs were 10.00-17.00 higher with 550-600 lbs being 5.00 lower. Feeder heifers 600-650 lbs sold 2.00 higher and 650-700 lbs were 15.00 lower. Trade was moderate on larger numbers with good demand. Slaughter cows and bulls sold 2.00 higher.Market moderate with excellent buyer attendance
