Where the numbers come from

Every report on this site is built from the USDA Agricultural Marketing Service's Livestock Market News — the same federal market reporters who sit at the sale and record what cattle actually brought. We ingest each report as it's published, covering 355 markets across 39 states, and print it in full: every weight break, grade, and class, the head counts, and the reporter's own commentary.

What we add

• The whole archive. Not just the latest sale — every past report for a market, on its own page.
• Comparisons. Each class lined up against the previous sale at the same barn.
• Plain math, honestly labeled. Prices quoted per cwt stay per cwt; bred stock and pairs sold by the head are shown by the head. When we compute anything, the page says how.
• A link to the source. Every report page links to the official USDA document it was built from.

Market data is for information only, not trading or investment advice. USDA occasionally corrects a published report; when that happens, the corrected figures replace the originals here and the page is marked. If a number here disagrees with the official USDA PDF, the PDF wins — and we'd like to know: the report page links to it.
