Reading this report
What does "Medium and Large 1" mean?
USDA feeder grades describe frame size and muscle thickness, not quality of
the individual animal. "Medium and Large" is the frame score; the number is
muscle (1 = heaviest muscled). "Medium and Large 1–2" pens mix both muscle
scores — common across the Southeast.
What is $/cwt?
Dollars per hundredweight — per 100 lb of animal. A 500-lb calf at
$450/cwt brings 5 × $450 = $2,250. Lighter cattle usually bring more per
cwt but less per head.
Why are some prices per head?
Bred cows, cow-calf pairs, and some replacement classes sell by the
head, not by weight. We show those exactly as USDA reports them — a
$/head figure is never converted into $/cwt on this site.

federal reporters at the sale. We publish each report in full and link the
official USDA document at the top of the page.

Compared to last week; Steer calves 300-350 lbs sold sharply higher and 350-400 lbs were 3.00 higher. 400-450 lbs were 20.00 lower while 450-500 lbs sold 18.00 higher 500-550 lbs were 6.00 higher and 550-600 lbs sold 6.00 lower. Heifer calves 300-350 lbs were 6.00 higher and 350-400 lbs sold 5.00 lower. 400-500 lbs were 5.00-8.00 higher 500-550 lbs were 4.00 lower and 550-600 lbs sold 11.00 higher. Feeder steers and feeder heifers had insufificient numbers to compare but a stronger tone was present. Slaughter cows were 1.00 higher and slaughter bulls sold 4.00 higher. Trade was moderately active on smaller numbers with active demand. Excellent buyer attendance
