Reading this report
What does "Medium and Large 1" mean?
USDA feeder grades describe frame size and muscle thickness, not quality of
the individual animal. "Medium and Large" is the frame score; the number is
muscle (1 = heaviest muscled). "Medium and Large 1–2" pens mix both muscle
scores — common across the Southeast.
What is $/cwt?
Dollars per hundredweight — per 100 lb of animal. A 500-lb calf at
$450/cwt brings 5 × $450 = $2,250. Lighter cattle usually bring more per
cwt but less per head.
Why are some prices per head?
Bred cows, cow-calf pairs, and some replacement classes sell by the
head, not by weight. We show those exactly as USDA reports them — a
$/head figure is never converted into $/cwt on this site.

federal reporters at the sale. We publish each report in full and link the

Compared to last weeks sale, steer calves 300-400 lbs were 5.00-8.00 higher and 400-500 lbs sold steady to 8.00 higher while 500-600 lbs were 2.00-7.00 higher. Feeder steers 600-750 lbs sold 10.00-13.00 lower. Heifer calves 300-350 were 2.00 higher and 350-400 lbs sold 10.00 lower while 400-500 lbs were 1.00-5.00 higher and 500-600 lbs sold sharply lower. Feeder heifers 600-650 lbs were 10.00 higher. Trade was very active on an unsteady market with good demand. Slaughter cows sold steady to 2.00 higher with instances of 12.00 higher and slaughter bulls steady to 4.00 higher,instances 13.00 higher. Special attention being paid to quality ,condition, and fill. Lower numbers with excellent buyer attendance
