Reading this report
What does "Medium and Large 1" mean?
USDA feeder grades describe frame size and muscle thickness, not quality of
the individual animal. "Medium and Large" is the frame score; the number is
muscle (1 = heaviest muscled). "Medium and Large 1–2" pens mix both muscle
scores — common across the Southeast.
What is $/cwt?
Dollars per hundredweight — per 100 lb of animal. A 500-lb calf at
$450/cwt brings 5 × $450 = $2,250. Lighter cattle usually bring more per
cwt but less per head.
Why are some prices per head?
Bred cows, cow-calf pairs, and some replacement classes sell by the
head, not by weight. We show those exactly as USDA reports them — a
$/head figure is never converted into $/cwt on this site.

federal reporters at the sale. We publish each report in full and link the

Compared to last week; Steer calves 300-350 lbs were sharply higher while 350-400 lbs sold steady. 400-450 lbs were 6.00 lower with 450-500 lbs 1.00 lower. 500-550 sold 20.00 higher and 550-600 lbs were 2.00 higher. Heifer calves 300-400 lbs were 1.00 higher while 400-450 lbs sold 13.00 higher. 450-500 lbs were 2.00 higher while 500-550 lbs sold 12.00 higher. 550-600 lbs heifer calves were 6.00 higher. Feeder steers 600-650 lbs were 9.00 lower while 650-700 lbs held steady. 700-750 lbs sold 15.00 higher and 750-800 lb feeder steers were 5.00 lower. Feeder heifers 600-650 lbs sold 5.00 higher while 650-700 lbs were 1.00 higher, 700-750 lbs were 1.00 lower and 750-800 lb sold sharply higher. Slaughter cows had no breakers and boner cows were 2.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold 5.00 higher. Trade was active on good supply with good demand and excellent buyer attendance.
