Compared to last week, a much lighter offering this week with steer and heifer calves weighing under 600 lbs. selling in mostly small packages and not a good comparison with last week's large offering of top quality calves, a few comparisons of 4 weight steers did sell with a steady to firm undertone with other calves trading with a weak to lower undertone. A pot load of 728 lb. steers off the same consignment as last week weighing near the same sold 5.00 lower. Three pot loads of 650-669 lb. heifers were not tested with last week's scarce offering of heifers weighing over 650 lbs. Demand was moderate to good on a light supply . Slaughter cows 4.00-6.00 lower compared to last week's very active market.

muscle (1 = heaviest muscled). "Medium and Large 1–2" pens mix both muscle

What is $/cwt?
Dollars per hundredweight — per 100 lb of animal. A 500-lb calf at
$450/cwt brings 5 × $450 = $2,250. Lighter cattle usually bring more per
cwt but less per head.

Bred cows, cow-calf pairs, and some replacement classes sell by the
head, not by weight. We show those exactly as USDA reports them — a
$/head figure is never converted into $/cwt on this site.
