Reading this report
What does "Medium and Large 1" mean?
USDA feeder grades describe frame size and muscle thickness, not quality of
the individual animal. "Medium and Large" is the frame score; the number is
muscle (1 = heaviest muscled). "Medium and Large 1–2" pens mix both muscle
scores — common across the Southeast.
What is $/cwt?
Dollars per hundredweight — per 100 lb of animal. A 500-lb calf at
$450/cwt brings 5 × $450 = $2,250. Lighter cattle usually bring more per
cwt but less per head.
Why are some prices per head?
Bred cows, cow-calf pairs, and some replacement classes sell by the
head, not by weight. We show those exactly as USDA reports them — a
$/head figure is never converted into $/cwt on this site.

LaFayette - Compared to the last sale, Feeder Steers/Bulls 8.00-20.00 higher; Feeder Heifers 5.00-15.00 higher. Offerings also included 1059 head sold on video. The video sale report can be seen at the following link: https://www.ams.usda.gov/mnreports/ams_3467.pd Savannah - Compared to last week, Slaughter Cows 5.00 to 7.00 higher, with instances 10.00 higher. Slaughter Bulls 3.00 to 5.00 higher. Feeder Steer and Bull trends not well established due to limited comparable receipts. Feeder Heifers under 500 lbs 2.00 to 7.00 lower, over 500 lbs mostly steady with instances 2.00 to 6.00 higher. Quality fair to fancy. Demand moderate. Sweetwater - *No comparisons available due to reporter absence last week.
