No Sale last week due to the Thanksgiving Holiday, comparisons made to two weeks ago. Feeder Steers under 400 Steady, 400 to 450 8.00 higher, 450 to 600 10.00 to 12.00 higher, 600 to 650 8.00 to 10.00 higher, 650 to 700 5.00 higher, Feeder Heifers 400 to 450 4.00 to 6.00 higher, 450 to 550 6.00 to 8.00 higher, 550 to 650 8.00 to 10.00 higher. Very good Demand for Many Packages of Feeder Steers and Feeder Heifers which sold on a Strong, Active Market. Much of the Offering had both Spring and Fall Vaccinations and carried light to moderate flesh. The next Feeder Cattle Sale is December 10, Weaned Calf Special, expecting 2,000 head.

What does "Medium and Large 1" mean?

USDA feeder grades describe frame size and muscle thickness, not quality of the individual animal. "Medium and Large" is the frame score; the number is muscle (1 = heaviest muscled). "Medium and Large 1–2" pens mix both muscle scores — common across the Southeast.

What is $/cwt?

Dollars per hundredweight — per 100 lb of animal. A 500-lb calf at $450/cwt brings 5 × $450 = $2,250. Lighter cattle usually bring more per cwt but less per head.

Why are some prices per head?

Bred cows, cow-calf pairs, and some replacement classes sell by the head, not by weight. We show those exactly as USDA reports them — a $/head figure is never converted into $/cwt on this site.
